Humidifiers

My Favorite Humidifier - I did a lot of research before choosing a new humidifier to replace my old, cute little dragon, which just wasn't doing the job anymore. I wouldn't just plunk down $300 willy-nilly. The Venta has kept away the nosebleeds for years now and greatly improved the quality of my sleep.

It does need maintenance, like any humidifier. The water treatment additive keeps the water relatively clean until your next fill up and helps to keep the disk stack clean. Without it, the water will get nasty in a few days. With it, you get to wait a couple weeks before dumping, refilling, washing, and using more cleaner.

It also has a special cleaner to maintain the parts that are constantly in contact with the dirty water. Some reviewers say you can just use a cheaper, homemade solution or whatever you have available, such as vinegar. I've used that and also CLR. I'm not sure anything really does the trick, and I still have yet to try the cleaner, because it's yet another $13+ that I could be spending on a movie or book. And when a replacement disk stack costs only twice that directly from Venta, I'm fine with letting the parts degrade and replacing them after a few years, but you decide what's more convenient for you.

Venta also has their own essential oils in their aromatherapy line. If you'd like other options, Amazon has a lot more to choose from.
